Hypospadias Repair

Hypospadias is a common congenital condition where the opening of the urethra is located on the underside of the penis rather than at the tip. Without correction, this can lead to issues with urination and future sexual function.

  • Meticulous Reconstruction: Utilizing advanced micro-surgical techniques to build a new urinary channel out of surrounding tissue.
  • Cosmetic Normalcy: Correcting penile curvature (chordee) to ensure a normal, straight appearance.
  • Optimal Timing: Typically performed between 6 to 18 months of age for the best physiological and psychological outcomes.

Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV-F)

Posterior Urethral Valves (PUV) are abnormal tissue flaps in the urethra of newborn boys that severely block the flow of urine. If left untreated, the back-pressure can cause irreversible, life-threatening damage to the developing kidneys.

Dr. Kataria performs an emergency Endoscopic Valve Fulguration (PUV-F). Using a microscopic camera inserted through the urethra, the obstructing valves are precisely ablated (destroyed) using a laser or electrical current, instantly relieving the pressure on the bladder and kidneys without a single incision.

Pyeloplasty (UPJ Obstruction)

Ureteropelvic Junction (UPJ) Obstruction is a blockage at the point where the kidney connects to the ureter, causing urine to pool and swell the kidney (hydronephrosis).

  • Surgical Correction: Pyeloplasty involves removing the narrowed, blocked segment of the ureter and reattaching the healthy portion directly to the kidney.
  • Laparoscopic Approach: Whenever possible, the procedure is performed using minimally invasive keyhole surgery to reduce pain and scarring for the child.
  • Long-Term Kidney Protection: Restores normal urinary flow, preventing chronic infections and progressive kidney damage.

Ureteric Reimplantation (VUR)

Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR) occurs when the valve mechanism between the bladder and the ureters fails, allowing urine to flow backward into the kidneys. This leads to severe, recurrent urinary tract infections and permanent renal scarring.

During Ureteric Reimplantation, Dr. Kataria surgically repositions the ureter into the bladder wall. This creates a new, functional "tunnel" that acts as a one-way valve, permanently stopping the backward flow of urine and safeguarding your child's renal health for a lifetime.
